One of the most amazing aspects about starting a company like HANAH is all of the incredible connections you make, people you meet, and relationships you build. Additionally, our mission is to be sure that the most important person – our customer – is aware of what’s going on behind the scenes at HANAH. We want to stay transparent about our core values and keep you up-to-date on any changes or announcements. Well, we’ve got a pretty awesome announcement to make today...

Dr. Blaise Aguirre, MD, has joined our Board of Advisors (check out his LinkedIn profile here). He fits so perfectly into our belief that food is the best medicine. Dr. Aguirre knows that, while amazing, Western Medicine doesn’t have all the answers. As a major contributor to the field of psychiatry, he has a unique perspective on how HANAH can have a positive impact on patients and merge the best parts of Eastern and Western medicine.

We look forward to working with him to increase HANAH’s focus on both ancient and modern medicines working in harmony to make life better for those in need of “non-traditional” treatments. We hope that together we can help transform the alternative into the mainstream by bringing quality products and scientific testing practices to the forefront of ancient healing traditions.

Dr. Aguirre is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and serves on multiple boards, including The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, Mirah, and the Illinois Marathon. He’s an expert in child, adolescent and adult psychotherapy, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), a psychotherapy which integrates Eastern and Western approaches, and lectures all over the world on the technique. He is the founding medical director of 3East, a unique residential DBT program for young women exhibiting self-endangering behaviors and borderline personality disorder (BPD) traits, and has written multiple books.

You can also check out a movie featuring him with Tich Nhat Hanh and Deepak Chopra - Mindfulness, Be Happy Now.

Read his first piece here and stay tuned for insights and articles from Dr. Blaise Aguirre on our blog.
